Last checked 3 October 2026. News changes, so look at the dates.
Two different things. People mix them up because the 0.75% news came out while many still remembered e-levy.
| Charge | Where it stands |
|---|---|
| E-levy (government tax on electronic transfers) | Repealed. The President signed the repeal on 2 April 2025. |
| 0.75% on MoMo to bank transfers (an MTN fee, not a tax) | Suspended on 26 May 2026. Not being charged. |
| Cash-out at an agent | Has its own fee. See the cash-out charges calculator. |
On Wednesday 2 April 2025 President Mahama signed the bills repealing the e-levy, the betting tax and the emissions levy (Presidency of Ghana). The Ghana Revenue Authority also published that the Electronic Transfer Levy was repealed in April 2025 (GRA). So there is no government e-levy on MoMo transfers.
It is a suspension, not a cancellation. If that changes, the date and the new rule will be in the news again; check the sources above before you believe a message that says otherwise.
We do not show a price for sending MoMo from one wallet to another. Pages disagree on it and we found no MTN page we could read that settles it. We also do not show Telecel Cash or AT Money fees. Check your own network.
Keep your money record by voiceFree. No password, no MoMo PIN, no Ghana Card.
