Why check every night

E-cash on the SIM + cash in the box should be the same total, morning and night, plus the commission you earned. Ghana has 491,057 active mobile money agents (Bank of Ghana, 2025). The ones who check tonight find a gap tonight, not at month end, when it can still be reported.

A gap tonight: what to do

Count the cash again. Read the e-cash balance on your own agent SIM again.
Fake credit alert? Never pay out on an SMS or the customer's screen, only on your own agent SIM balance. Call MTN on 100 tonight.
Someone asks for a "reversal" of money that never arrived on your SIM? Do not pay it.

Fraud reports in Ghana rose 48% in 2025 to 24,778 cases, and mobile money and other digital platforms were more than 97% of them (Bank of Ghana fraud report, via Pulse, July 2026). MTN's free lines for reporting fraud are 100 and 1515 (Ghana News Agency, August 2020).
