In a 2016 study by the Ghana Co-operative Susu Collectors Association, about 1,500 susu collectors were working in Ghana and only 472 had a Bank of Ghana licence: about 69% worked without one (Graphic, 18 January 2016). A receipt for every payment protects both sides: the saver sees each payment and the total, and the collector can show what was paid.
Collectors in the association took GH₵ 1.62 billion in deposits in 2024, up 34% from GH₵ 1.21 billion in 2023, from 957,294 clients, its General Manager told its annual general meeting (Graphic, 10 November 2025).
Names, numbers and amounts are kept only on this phone. A card link carries one saver's payments in the part after the #, and that part is never sent to a website when the link opens (MDN). CountMy never holds, moves or lends the money, and never asks for a MoMo number or a bank account.
