Hello [name]. I have not yet received the rent of [amount] for [what it is for]. If you have sent it, please send me the reference. If not, please let me know when I can expect it.
Hello [name]. The rent of [amount] for [what it is for] is now a week late. I understand things happen. Please tell me today when you will pay, so I can plan around it.
When the tenant is silent
Hello [name]. I have not heard from you about the [amount] for [what it is for]. Please reply with the date you will pay. If there is a problem, tell me, and we can talk about it.
Hello [name]. If paying all [amount] for [what it is for] at once is difficult this month, I can accept part now and the rest by [date]. Please tell me what you can do.
Thank you [name]. I received [amount] towards the rent for [what it is for]. The balance is [amount], due by [date]. Please confirm.
Hello [name]. This is my last reminder about the rent of [amount] for [what it is for]. Please pay by [date]. I would prefer to sort this between us, so please call me if you need to.

The amount, the month and the due date, in a friendly tone, with how to pay. Message 1 and 2 do that.
Send a short message a few days before the due date and another on the day. If it is late, ask for a date to pay rather than repeating the demand.
It usually helps. A reminder before the due date is a courtesy, and it cuts late rent. Keep it brief and friendly.
About three days before, on the due date, and a day after if nothing has arrived. Our suggestion, not a legal rule.
Start friendly and get firmer only as the days pass. Asking for a specific payment date (messages 4 to 6) works better than a general complaint.
